West Tennessee Woodturners
March 12, 2016
Jerry Dawson presided over the meeting in Bill Wyche’s absence.
Pen kits were available for members to pick up as part of the TN Woodturners goal of 1,000 pens to be sent overseas to our military personnel. A sign-up sheet was present for those who turning pens for this worthwhile effort. The pens will need to be turned in as you turn them…Bill Wyche will keep them stored until all pens are turned. A big thank you goes out to Paul Reed who brought a wide variety of wood for us to use for the troops.
Jerry Dawson has left 7 bowls in the past to advertise in the Conference Room. Jerry has since retrieved his bowls so if we could have another volunteer to bring 7 bowls to be displayed that’d be great. Good to have Jerry back!
The International Food Festival will be here before you know it. The West TN Woodturners will have a booth set up to sell items donated. All profits will go to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. The booth will NEED items to sell. If you know the value of the item you are donating, please list a price you wish to see it sold for.
Next month’s challenge will be to make EGGS. That’s right, Easter is upon us and after this month’s demo on turning eggs & decorating them…….it should be a sight to see all the decorated eggs from our club members!
Rick & Larry from the Memphis group did a terrific demo on how to turn eggs and how to decorate them using a variety of techniques. A basket of eggs of all sizes and with exotic woods were there for all to see.
